About the Board
The Board of Trustees oversees operation of the Pendleton County Public Library District in accordance with KRS 173.520. The Board is composed of five Pendleton County residents who are appointed by the Judge-Executive and approved by the Fiscal Court. Each Board member may serve two four-year terms. The Board sets policy, approves budgets, and oversees the Library Director. The Board meets monthly on the third Monday at 6:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.

Step 1: Applications are collected.
When there is a board vacancy, the library will advertise and collect applications from members of the community.
Step 2: Applications are reviewed by the current board.
The current library board reviews the applications and nominates two names to be sent to the County Judge Executive for consideration.
Step 3: County Judge Executive chooses.
The County Judge Executive has two options:
A. He can appoint one of nominations of his choice - proceed to Step 4
B. He can reject both nominations - the process starts over again with Step 1.
If the County Judge Executive rejects the second round of nominations, he can then appoint his own candidate.
Step 4: Fiscal Court Votes
The County Judge Executive’s decision is required to have the approval of the Fiscal Court.
